A new year...

My year has gone fast! This year was an interesting answer to prayer. I had been praying for 2 things... A classroom job (answered) and a baby... Still waiting for God to answer that one. He has a plan In my life and I just have to wait for his timing. I am hoping that it is soon.

Long time no type!

We have had a lot going on! I did not know having my own classroom would be so busy... When I come home I'm exhausted, all I want to do is veg! This in turn affects my blogging abilities.

As far as updates on our life, nothing much has changed. We did have a lot of family over for Thanksgiving. We were he carpeted one of our bedrooms, refloored our entryway, and I started a business.

Heidi's Custom Designs was established in October 2012. I have decided since I already make and sell items that I should have a label! I added hand-painted furniture, baby items, and general crafting.
So far I have sold three painted chairs and setting up another purchase soon!!! It has been nice to have extra hobbies and money!

Our Basset hound Jasper, had to have his glaucoma infected I taken out. He has recovered well and is almost back to normal!

As far as the babymaking has been going, we're still working on it.

Catching Up

Summer seems to be long gone... I am 4 weeks into a new school year and loving every minute of it. I have 19 students in my class of which 13 are boys. WOW... yes I have a lot of boys in my class. And they are less than thrilled with my colorful classroom.

As some of you might know, Davin and I started to rent out our basement. Heather is a co-worker and she is currently renting our basement. It is nice to have another human being in the house during fooball season.

Another update would be that Davin and I had our first appointment at Mid-Iowa Fertility. We really like our new doctor and he seems confident that he can help us start our family. Hopefully it be something simple. Keep us in you prayers and cross your fingers.

Ahhh summer!

I have had a busy, busy, busy, busy, busy summer! Two weddings down, camping in Wisconsin for a week, going to the Dells, going to a bachelorette party, planting the garden, fixing the garden, fixing the garden again, going on bike rides, and lots and lots more.

So here's an update of my recent life.

No, I am not pregnant yet, but working on it. I have not lost a ton weight yet, but working on it. My classroom has kind of taken over my life... I am starting to set up a new blog for that as a point of reference for other teachers. When I am not at school trying to set it up, I am at home working on things for it.
Here are a plethora of pictures for you to look at on my summer adventures.

summer lovin'

I have imensly enjoyed my first 3 days of summer vacation! i have to get use to not waking up at quarter to 6, plus getting my chores done in the morning and taking a nap in the afternoon. Not to mention sitting in my pool after my nap... oh the glorious summer!
Well that is what I am doing as of now... once I get to move into my new classroom my summer will change dramatically. I will be going into school once or twice a week to set it up.I will be setting up a second grade blog for all my ideas. My classroom has a blog as well!!!
For now that is all I got for you...

God is Good!!!

I haven't blogged in a while, but I have been very busy.
In the past month, I have recently picked up a new healthy hobby, applied for a new job, been in a wedding, attended my 10 year high school reunion (WOW I am OLD), and missed a lot of church.

Our new hobby is amazing, and the best part is that both Davin and I enjoy it! We recently acquired 2 new road bikes, and have been going on a lot of rides. Davin's goal is to ride in ragbri, a yearly cross Iowa bike rally, my goal is to just get in better shape. Our regular rides on average are about 20 miles. Today Davin wants to ride 40-50... this may be or not may not be my last blog...
 High Tressel Trail (26 miles)

On Thursday, I found out the best news at work! A week and a half ago my two principals approached me with the news that they wanted me to switch from K-1 SPED to 2-3 SPED. This was after applying for two general education classroom positions, and being turned down by one of them and waiting for the other one. I had to think about it and pray about it, I finally told them I would do it, but it was not what I really wanted. Then no one said anything to me about it for over a week. I finally gave in and asked. My principal told me to check my email. That is when I found out that my request for 2nd grade was approved!!!! I am going to be a 2nd Grade general education teacher!!!!

Last weekend, I had the honor to be in the Slama/Rathke wedding party!!!! It was the fanciest wedding that I have ever attended, let alone be in. Justine and Derek were one of the most beautiful couples that I ever did see, and I got to meet a butt ton of amazing people.
 The Maids
hair and makeup!!!

Finally, I attended my high school reunion. It went way better than the 5 year one, no one asked if I was pregnant. I got to catch up with classmates, and yeah it went pretty well. Over half of our class showed up, so that was good.

And as far as the church is concerned, I do miss my friends and church family, but with the last month...YIKES!!! Hopefully I will see you in 3 Weeks. Next weekend is my mother's PhD graduation in Wisconsin, and this week we are going on another bike ride...

Thanks for reading!

Early Spring...

I am having a love/hate relationship with this early spring. I am not hating the warm sunny weather, but I am hating that feeling that a cold front might be lurking around every corner. Also, I am not liking the mowing in the middle of March.
Here are the Pros:
  • I have been outside working and enjoying the weather.
  • Our yard is starting to look presentable.
  • I am being physically active!
Here are the Cons:
  • It should be snowy...
  • I had to mow
  • I got a sunburn already...
So all in all I think... GLOBAL WARMING!!!
